Dr. Brothers received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 1973.

He served as an optometrist in the US Air Force with assignment at Offutt AFB- Nebraska; Hellenicon AFB-Greece and Moody AFB-Georgia before coming to Champaign as Chief of Optometry at Chanute. He has practiced in Champaign-Urbana since retiring from Chanute.  Dr. Brothers joined the Chittick family in 2007 to help open their new Savoy office.

He is active in the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, Armed Forces Optometric Society and is past president of the East Central Illinois Optometry Society. He and his wife Susan live in Champaign and have 2 adult children.
