Dr. Mallady graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1993 and soon thereafter purchased the practice of the retiring Dr. William Buchanan. Originally established in 1961, the practice remained in the same location but was renamed Chittick Family Eye Care.

In addition to his responsibilities as President of Chittick Family Eye Care, Dr. Mallady is currently on the Board of Directors of the Danville Symphony Orchestra, a member of the American Optometric Association, is on the medical staff of Provena USMC as a Limited License Practitioner and a Cabinet Member of Central Christian Church. His wife, Mindy and 3 children live in Danville.
